At a track that has seen Liam have great success in the past, this year’s visit to the Red Bull Ring in Austria was hampered by mechanical failure and track limit violations.
A top-five qualifying time was deleted for exceeding track limits and his next best time from the start of the session was only good enough for grid 14.
Liam retired in the Sprint Race with mechanical issues but looked to salvage a good Feature Race result from a starting position at the back end of the grid when he started the race on slick tyres in still wet conditions. On a drying track he moved up from being bumped down to 20th to 5th at the end of the race. Unfortunately a second track limit violation penalty incurred in the closing laps added five seconds to his finish time, dropping him to be classified 10th.
